“State of the Art Northern Lights”

“State of the Art Northern Lights”. 40″X 30″ X 1.5″. Gallery wrapped canvas. Sold.

In my most recent painting I wanted to capture the beauty of northern Minnesota. When I think of northern Minnesota I think of my memories up near boundary waters and all the calm beauty of nature. The man canoeing is taking in the beautiful view of the sun setting over the trees.

Art and Variations

“State of the Art City Light.” 24″ X 18″X 1.5″ gallery wrapped canvas. Available.

My State of the Art series has turned up a great response from many and that means more variations of like concepts. I enjoy capturing ideas or concepts in multiple paintings using a variety of brush techniques and colors to make them each their own. They may look alike at first glance but if you study them, you will notice the purposeful differences. My most recent painting, titled “State of the Art City Lights” is a depiction of the vibrant colorful energy of downtown Minneapolis with respect to the state of Minnesota. I wanted the bright colors tell a story of the city and the state to stand out more using a different shadowing effect.

Portrait Paintings

“Kapri”. 10″ X 10″. Painting project collaboration with artist Kapri & Amy Kulseth.

A challenge for me as an artist has always been painting portraits of loved ones. I am unsure if it is because I see them in a different way or the fact that I see so many different faces from these people. I decided to turn a recent portrait painting of my daughter into a project for her because she so loves to help mom! I painted her portrait, covered it, and let her use fluorescent paint markers to decorate the background. Love how it turned out!

Cherry & Spoon

image

“Cherry & Spoon”. 40″ X 16″X 1.5″ gallery wrapped canvas.

This painting is one I chose from popular Minnesota landmarks. Lots of time put into all the details but well worth it. I wanted to paint something with vibrant colors and love how the red cherry stands out.

In response to the feedback I have received I will be continuing the Minnesota themed paintings. I plan on producing some popular landscapes, landmarks, and cityscapes of Minnesota. I plan on doing a mix of abstract and realism. If you have ideas or concepts that you would like to see please contact me via FacebookInstagram , or email me at amarie700@gmail.com. The most recent landmark painting I finished is of Split Rock Lighthouse in Two Harbors, MN. Stay tuned for the next landmark painting!
